PE backed, International Restaurant Management Group with 8 portfolio brands and 400+ locations
Challenge: Like many Restaurant Management Groups who have multiple brands in their portfolios, consolidating data for critical performance management and insights was a struggle for our client, due in large part to the vast array of POS systems used across brands, markets, and locations.
Timely insights into critical KPIs such as Labor or Food Cost, both major drivers of EBITDA, were lacking, leaving management with little ability to adjust on the fly and intervene.
Messina group worked with our client’s Executive Leadership Team to determine the most critical KPIs required to impact the business. Once these KPIs were captured, we partnered with our client’s in-house technology team on data acquisition, platform configuration and procurement.
The final component was a rich, mobile friendly Power BI interface to provide an Executive Heatmap of portfolio performance across all brands, markets, channels, and locations.

The rich data visualizations, now readily available for Executives across the company, provided real-time insights into brand and market performance, helping improve revenue tracking, labor tracking, and evaluation of market performance.
Our client’s Regional Managers and District Managers were also able to closely monitor market performance for Labor Cost, Food Cost, Customer Traffic, and Online Ordering, enabling them to work closely with store managers to tweak staff scheduling and promotions to impact EBITDA.
